In 2012, we will continue to support the Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF) by growing the Jim and Jude Holland Endowment at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. More specifically, the funds from this special endowment will contribute directly to Palliative Care which concentrates on making therapeutically directed comforting care items available to the children and their families being treated at the hospital. The use of these items can help alleviate pain, manage stress, enhance memory and improve communication. We strongly believe that this type of care plays an important, positive role in the health, treatment and experience of the children and their families at the hospital.
We are proud that Jim and Jude are the reason for this contribution and thank all who helped us get here. We look forward to seeing you at our 3rd Annual Golf Event August 16, 2012!
In 2011, our goals were centered on supporting theChildren’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF) and raising enough money to start a permanent endowment in Jim and Jude’s names at the new state-of-the-art University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. WE DID IT!
CCRF is the champion for bold research that leads to life-saving cures for childhood cancer and other deadly diseases that affect children. Their unique entrepreneurial approach turns every dollar invested into $15-$20 in additional national funding by backing a research team, world-renowned for innovative approaches.
With potential for that much return on investment, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to establish a relationship with this impressive organization and make Jim and Jude a permanent part of their success.
WE HAVE ALSO PROUDLY SUPPORTED:
Little Saints Preschool: In September 2010, the Jim and Jude Foundation provided the primary funding for a new playground at Little Saints Preschool of St. Hubert Catholic Church in Chanhassen, MN. Little Saints is a very special place for us — Jude Holland had started his first year of preschool there in September of 2009 and quickly became the ‘perfect preschooler’: full of love, hugs and mischief. The teachers and staff of Little Saints have continued to be a source of support in continuing to honor the adventurous spirit of our beloved Jude.
St. Jude Children’s Hospital: At the St Jude Fall Festival of Hope Restaurant Extravaganza on September 28, 2010, we proudly made a generous donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Jim Holland had always been a supporter of their work and personally, Saint Jude had been a source of comfort during hard times for Jim and Christine Holland.
Project Elf/Kids Closet: Aurora, Minnesota school outreach program that discreetly provides clothing and supplies to students in need.
Mulligan’s for Mike: Jim and Jude Foundation supporter and friend, Mike Gregoire, was diagnosed with brain cancer shortly after playing in our first Golf Event in 2010.
Cullen’s Cause: Contributed funds to help the McConnell family purchase a handicapped accessible van for their son, Cullen, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: a cureless disease which causes progressive loss of muscle strength. Cullen’s Cause
Inter County Community Council (ICCC), Oklee,MN: A community action agency located in Oklee, MN that provides housing programs, family services and employment and training, to name a few.
Children’s Defense Fund: A national non-profit child advocacy organization.
Faith’s Lodge: A lodge retreat in Danbury, Wisconsin for parents and families facing the serious illness or death of a child.
